One of the Fastest SUVs in the World

There is no doubt at this point that the fastest-growing segment of the automobile market is the SUV. This is specifically true in America. Americans are purchasing SUVs more today than they ever have in the past. Truthfully, these cars are great. They are large, comfortable, can fit many people, and are versatile. While they have many benefits, they are not perfect. They tend to be expensive. Owners of these cars will be buying lots of gas as well. Another issue is that they are often slow. In an effort to save a few dollars, companies will put smaller and underpowered engines in these vehicles. One company, however, decided to take the exact opposite route. They decided to cram the largest and most powerful engine they possibly could in a given space. The result is one of the fastest accelerating SUVs in the world.

This vehicle is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. This speedy SUV will make some sports cars look like they are hardly moving. To get an idea of how fast this car truly is, check out this VIDEO. This car packs a 707 horsepower supercharged V8 engine that can be found in other cars like the Dodge Challenger and Charger. This SUV is capable of beating a wide range of other sports cars from a stop to 60 miles per hour. This list includes but is not limited to the Dodge Challenger Hellcat, Chevy Corvette Grand Sport, and the Porsche 718 Cayman S. All of these are respectable cars that are certainly regarded to as being very fast. The official listing is that the Trackhawk will climb from zero to 60 miles per hour in just under three and a half whopping seconds.

So what is the point? Why would Chrysler put a massive engine in a common SUV with a body design that otherwise has no clear indication of the absurd performance? The answer seems to be the same for many of their decisions, “Why not, because we can.” Nobody needs that much speed to get their kids to school and yet some people will purchase this vehicle. The interesting part is that the price of this car is not even too high for what you are getting. With the starting price coming in at nearly 90 thousand dollars, this SUV is not even remotely cheap for many people. What makes it interesting is when you compare that price to other common SUVs currently for sale. For example, it is easy to spend over 100 thousand dollars on a Chevy Suburban. Various other brands also make SUVs that cost over 100 thousand dollars such as Cadillac, Lincoln, BMW, Land Rover, and Mercedes. Most of their cars, however, do not even come close to the insane performance of the Trackhawk. This is what makes it such an attractive buy for many consumers.

Overall, this is one of the most absurd cars you can currently buy, and for good reason. It is the most powerful production SUV and is faster than many sports cars. This machine is not for everybody but I think that everybody can appreciate and hopefully appreciate Chrysler for putting this drivetrain inside a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
